Went to the Cove with Shayne and Clinton around 11. One of my favorite places to surf but its kind of a sketchy place. There’s huge rocks in front of you if you wipeout that I’ve been slammed into and my board has been broken in the past. There’s also more sharks. But it’s really good on certain days. The problem is the wind pushes you pretty fast off the spot where the wave breaks. Surfed for an hour and caught 2 waves. 3 feet.
New Kure Beach ocean front park opened up today.
Went to the pipe with Beca, Kerri, and Byron at 6:15. The waves were clean and about 2-3 feet. Stayed around an hour. Went back to look at it around 2:30 but it got choppy and cold. 10 more days…
Sun rising at Carolina Beach
Ok so we were all out surfing and this boat starts headed towards us. He is way off but coming fast and coming closer. It’s a huge boat. He then gets to within 100 yards steaming right to us and he starts blasting his horn at us. Then he comes closer and closer. We just paddled in.. Not sure what his problem was. He was way to big to play chicken with. I think he was this dredging crew.
Went to the pier again with Kerri, Clinton, and Byron at 6:15 AM. They were fun and I stayed around an hour. Caught 8 waves. Waist high range with a few larger.
Went back out around 6:30 with Beca but the tide was too high so I caught one and called it a day.
Everyone getting ready to paddle out before sun comes up.
Kerri catching for a wave and paddling out to sunrise.
My one afternoon wave.

Went out solo in front of house at 7:15. Waves had cleaned up quite a bit. They were in the waist high range. I caught 3. Much better than last few days. Stayed about 30 min. Current still pushing too hard to stay on one spot.
Wasn’t planning on going back out but I got a phone call from a journalist named Zach Hunt from WECT/WSFX news and he wanted to do an interview about my streak. He came down to my house and we went out on the beach and did an interview. He’s a surfer himself and after the interview he filmed me paddling out and catching a few waves. I was a little nervous so I called Kerri to come surf with me. As I typically do whenever someone is watching, I kooked up my first wave and wiped out with a news camera on me. I hope THAT doesn’t make the news…although it would be funny if it did I guess. We stayed about 45 minutes and I caught around 8 waves.
Waves early at KB
I’ve got some friends that have THIS view from their front porch. They saw someone surfing early and figured it was me and took a pic. The current pushed me pretty far down the shore out of their sight.
Zach interviewing me. It aired on the news at 11.
Another nasty day. 42° when I woke up and paddled out. Wind was 25 mph. Waves were overhead and choppy. Caught just two and only stayed about 15 minutes. Current still extremely strong. It cleared up a bit later but I never went back out.
One of the 2 waves I caught
Later in the pm.
30 mph winds. Very bad day at sea. Awful. Caught 2. Went around 10 and the wind was so strong it blew me all over the beach just walking the board down. Waves were overhead but I never got anywhere near as far out as those. Paddled for 15 minutes straight and hardly got anywhere. Managed to get a couple though. Beca took a few pics. I went to watch Scott surf around 5 and he walked down to the pier and paddled out. I timed it on my phone and he was pushed all the way down to my house (1/3 of a mile) in less than 5 minutes. You would have to jog to keep up with current. Same tmrw I think.
Very rough day.
Scott made it out and caught a good one
Went out on 4/20 at 6:30 for a little over an hour with Josh, Kerri, John, and Byron at KB pier. Waves were stomach high and clean. Ended up catching 6. Would’ve stayed longer but had an ALS walk to participate in.
Everyone getting up and paddling out
Last time for clean waves for a while.
John and a paddle boarder.
Went out at 6:15 AM with Byron, Clinton, and Kerri by the Kure pier. It was 66° when I woke up. Waves were large at time. 4-5 feet. Caught 9 waves. 2 really nice ones. Stayed about an hour. Saw many dolphins.
Went out again at noon with Shayne in front of house. Stayed another hour. Waves were still large.. caught 6 more.
Proximity to pier.
Went at sunrise with Byron and Kerri. Perfect way to start the day. Weather was in 60°s and water temp is now 67°. Stayed 45 minutes and caught 9 waves. Most were in the thigh-waist high range.
Went paddle boarding with Beca and Kaila around 3 down at Fort Fisher. Wind was kinda strong for it but still a lot of fun. Stayed about an hour.
Went to KB pier with Beca and Kerri at 4:30. Stayed about 90 minutes. Waves were weird. But good rides. My mom and dad came down to take some pictures. Waves were waist high every now and then. Caught 6. A few good wipeouts. 3 hours of surfing/paddle boarding today.
The dawn patrollers.
Kaila Beca and me paddling around basin.
Back bends, splits, handstands, and cartwheels on a paddle board.
Fun with daughter.
Went to the “pipe” at 6:20 with Kerri. Waves were still somewhat big. Waist to chest. Surfed for 40 minutes or so. No wipeouts today. Had a bunch yesterday. 5 waves. Good way to start the day.
Carolina Beach sunrise
A pipe at the pipe. Dredging I guess…
Kerri is in there somewhere.
